Virtual Events

Virtual Meet-Ups

Chat with other library workers to share tips, ask questions, and talk about your experiences. Libraries are diverse work environments and there are lots of special work areas within the field.

None of the virtual meet-ups will be recorded. This is a safe, judgement-free space, to network and speak openly.

Exploring the New Digital Repository and Digitization Studio at the NJ State Library

Register for the event on 6/25/24 at 2 p.m. here!

Program Description: The New Jersey State Library has a legislative mandate to collect, preserve, and make accessible New Jersey State publications. In 1796, that meant preserving items useful to the Legislature. In the centuries since, it has come to mean preserving items useful to State government and the public. Today, the State Library’s collections are open to all, but accessibility is largely achieved through digitization and digital access. Come join Caitlyn Cook of the State Library as she explores the digital collections and discusses the digitization efforts currently underway.

Presenter Bio: Caitlyn Cook (she/her) is the librarian responsible for the New Jersey State Library’s State publication collections and digital projects. She oversees the print collections, digitization studio, and digital repository. She has a strong passion for removing access barriers through digitization and is always looking for ways to make more content available to the public. She holds degrees in archaeology, ancient history, and library science. She came to the State Library from the Ocean County College Library and before that, the National Park Service. She lives in New Jersey with her wife and two hyperactive cats.
